Physical Education and games play a very important part in the curriculum. There is individual assessment, access to competitions at all levels (internal house competitions, participation with schools from the North West and other Christian Brothers' Schools), team fixtures and coaching in all years.

In addition to the facilities at The Mount, the school has 20 acres of playing fields at nearby Blundell Park and excellent indoor facilities at the Sports Hall situated in the Senior School grounds. All pupils who go to games are taken to the playing fields by coach.

In 2003 The Mount achieved the prestigious award of Active Mark Gold. This reflects our outstanding commitment to sport and physical fitness. Boys and girls have the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of sports including rugby, netball, football, hockey, cross-country, athletics, cricket and swimming. All pupils from Reception to Year 6 attend swimming lessons at nearby Crosby Baths.
