I would like to welcome you to the St Mary’s Preparatory School website. I hope that it will tell you a little about our school's history and organisation, and provide you with background information on what happens and why at The Mount.      

We are very proud of our school and our aim is to provide a safe, caring, stimulating, creative and happy environment in which each child in our care is able to develop and learn to the best of their abilities.  Our aim is that they become caring, skilful, confident and well balanced individuals who have lively, enquiring minds and who can reason and make decisions.

 

 

We have an exciting but rigorous curriculum to ensure that children get excellent teaching in the basics as well as having fun in their learning. This will give them the skills they need to access the whole curriculum and go on to achieve highly in all areas. We value the arts and sport and plan opportunities for children to get involved in many activities throughout the year. 

We work hard to create and sustain a warm, welcoming and caring atmosphere within which staff, pupils, their families and visitors to the school feel accepted and secure. The very positive and inclusive ethos is characterised by excellent relationships within school and between the school and each child’s home. We want everyone who works in or visits our school to enjoy the experience and to feel the satisfaction of making a positive and valued contribution.

Parents are always welcome in school and we aim to be as open as possible in our communications.  We would love you to visit our school and guarantee a warm welcome. We believe you will be impressed by our high academic standards, the quality of teaching, our brilliant learning environment and our motivated and well behaved pupils.

It was a hive of activity this week in Gardening Club with plenty to be done. The beds, pots and fruit trees needed watering following the recent warm and dry weather and the children quickly filled their watering cans and set to work. All pupils at The Mount have marked Roald Dahl Day with a number of classroom actvities and lessons, each focussing on one of the author's wonderful stories that continue to inspire children and adults. Old Boys return
As the term begins, our rugby teams start their training for the new season and have an impressive line up of coaches. Four ex St Mary's College students have joined forces and will be putting the boys through their paces at games each week. The ever popular Gardening Club met today for the first time this term and quickly got to work. There is a lot of tyding to be done following the harvesting of a variety of crops and the Summer break.
